Equines For Adoption

The equines showcased below are looking for new, loving and responsible homes. Each came to the rescue without hope for a future and in some cases after suffering from years of abuse and/or neglect. All special in their own way.....seeking their special person or family. If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider our Foster Program or Sponsor An Equine Program, great alternatives to help WMMER help equines.

Thank You.

Chief and Buddy:

Who can give these two boys love, care and a home? These two literally had nowhere else to go. We got them out of their bad situation and into temporary care for 2 weeks. Their dental work has been done by MacKinnon Equine Dentistry and hooves have been trimmed. After 13 years, the younger horse, Chief (23 year old QH) was saddled and ridden a bit. He had no issues except not wanting to go too far from his best friend, Buddy (27 year old QH/TW cross). They have been together for at least 18 years. They lead well and are polite.

Please DM us or email to: wmerescue@gmail.com or call at: 406-360-8473. Their adoption fee is $250 each to an approved home.

Scarlett and Cheyenne:

If you can't adopt, sponsor. If you can't sponsor, donate.

3 and 1/2 years ago we received a call from a gentleman who's sister was having serious health issues and could no longer take care of her horses. He has already contacted 6 other rescues, none with available room. So of course we said, absolutely. In advance of their arrival, he was able to have their teeth floated, got them de-wormed and vaccinated.

While they have not been adopted, Scarlett and Cheyenne are in a very loving assisted foster home, well cared for and happy. Scarlett is approximately 24 and Cheyenne is 28. They would very much appreciate a monthly Sponsor.

Quinn and Ripley:

These two gems are seeking their perfect match. Born two days apart, both are 17 years young. Quinn is a black and white paint mare, 14.2 hh and Ripley is her bestie, a bay QH mare, 15 hh with the same sire. They are both super sweet and easy to get along with. They have traveled to Arizona and rode in the desert as well as trail ridding in the Bitterroot Valley. Quinn prefers walk/trot and both prefer trail riding, although neither have been ridden for a year due to their owners non-horse related accident. Their hooves have been trimmed and they had a vet exam and dental work done on 9/18/2024.

These two must go together. Their adoption fee is $1200 each. The adoption application can be found here on our website.

Rocco & Boon:

These two boys were lovingly relinquished to the rescue by their 80‑year old owners who are retiring from horse ownership. They"ve been well cared for their entire lives and come with ten years of veterinary records. They are 20 years old, sound, healthy, and bonded, so they will only be placed together.

Rocco
Rocco is a super sweet, goofy 15.3h Quarter Horse gelding who loves to play and is very treat-motivated. He has a solid training foundation, but he does require an experienced, confident rider. Under saddle he can be pushy and occasionally rude, and he may kick at other horses when ridden in groups. With a rider who sets clear boundaries, he will shine but he truly wants to connect and be someone's partner.

Boon
Boon is an absolute sweetheart with a gentle soul. He is a 15.1h registered Appendix gelding who struggles with confidence and needs a calm, reassuring rider who can help him relax and walk out without jigginess or spooking. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body and could be a great match for a confident, knowledgeable kid or teen. He is the type who blossoms with patience and consistency.

These boys are bonded and will only be adopted as a pair.

We're looking for the right homes, not the fastest ones.

While these two belong to us, they have been in tune up training at Hooves of Promise. Please contact them directly at: 406-529-1500 or hoovesofpromise@gmail.com
